A Rock Quarry?

Instead of shutting down an illegal operation, our city officials will work around the problem to bring it into compliance according to the DNJ. The 30-acre site on the edge of the city limits — located just off Interstate 24 exit 66 near Blair Road — was originally zoned as I-2, which would allow for grading. But Duggin Construction crews have been sizing and selling rocks mined from the site, which would classify the area as a quarry.  The mayor and city officials didn’t know about the quarry operation until a News Channel 5 investigation this week proved otherwise. Ingram Lays Off 53

According to the Daily News Journal, three percent of the workforce at Ingram have been laid off.  I read a friend’s facebook update yesterday where she expressed relief that her name wasn’t “on a list” Friday.  I’m relieved she wasn’t on it, too.  From the DNJ, Ingram Content Group, based in La Vergne, laid off 57 workers on Friday, the upshot of a consolidation that took place eight months ago. … and …  In May, Ingram Industries consolidated its print and digital publishing services into a single company. My sympathy to the workers.

Moshea Suspended, HR Director Out

The meeting late this afternoon by the Board was in regard to an EEOC suit filed against the city regarding discrimination.  According to the DNJ, city administrator Mark Moshea has been suspended for four weeks without pay.  Earlier in the day, the human resources director Kathi Payne resigned in advance of the meeting, according to Nashville is Talking.
