HUD Houses for Sale

In response to the numerous inquiries I get about HUD houses for sale, here’s some information.  HUD is the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and they define their homes as follows, “A HUD home is a 1 to 4 unit residential property acquired by HUD as a result of a foreclosure action on an FHA-insured mortgage. HUD becomes the property owner and offers it for sale to recover the loss on the foreclosure claim.” People often view HUD owned houses as “bargains” – and sometimes they are.  But don’t think you’ll be buying something for $100 because HUD…

Waldron Elementary Needs New Playground

Roy Waldron Elementary School holds a dear place in my heart.  I served as PTO president when my youngest daughter attended back oh-so-many years ago.  I still feel a sense of pride that we were able to raise the money to build a fence around the playground because it gave me the heebie-jeebies that kids were playing right next to the street without that added protection. An American lawyer inquired, ‘Paddy, why is it that whenever you ask an Irishman a question, he answers with another question?’ ‘Who told you that?’ asked Paddy. Reilly is walking through a graveyard when he comes across a headstone with the inscription “Here lies a politician and an honest man.” ‘Faith now,’ exclaims Reilly, ‘I wonder how they got the two of…

1989 is the Year

I have been working a LOT lately at the Sommet Center Bridgestone Arena to raise money to pay for baton expenses for my daughter.  The food vendor allows non-profit groups to operate the concession stands at games and events as a fundraising activity. To do this, we are required to have alcohol training annually to recognize signs of inebriation, what forms of photo ID are acceptable (and EVERYONE gets carded), and how to decline a customer if we feel they’ve had to much.  And then they give us a written test that must be passed before we can work.  I…
