Board of Mayor And Aldermen Workshop 7-28-2011

July 28, 2011
By

I attended the Board of Mayor and Aldermen workshop this evening. Attendance was light, I guess everyone decided to go see Harry Potter or something. Most of it was a total snooze fest. The city needs to renew a copier contract. Um, some other stuff that I got bored and started stealing my neighbors’ iPhones through. One thing is, it looks like there is going to be a greenway in La Vergne, finally. It will be somewhere Blakemoore (I could be spelling that wrong.) Drive. I think, west side of La Vergne. Apparently there was a grant given to...

Tonight’s Town Hall Meeting

July 21, 2011
By

If I had liveblogged it you might have gotten a picture of how crazy it was tonight, but I didn’t. There was so much emotion running around that room, it was palpable. It is obvious that we all feel passionately about what is going on. Let me run a few things down here. One of the biggest complaints appears to be that the city pays 100% of employees’ health insurance and also a Christmas bonus, also known as longevity pay. This might be the biggest argument that I feel extremely passionate about myself. No, I am not employed by...

Town Hall Meeting Moved

July 18, 2011
By

In order to accommodate more people, the Town Hall meeting on Thursday has been moved to the Multipurpose Building behind city hall. It can hold up to 300 people as compared to the board room’s 104. It is at 7 PM on this upcoming Thursday, July 21st. Please try to come to voice your opinion.   Also, kudos to the La Vergne police for busting a meth lab and rescuing 6 children and 2 pets from the house. They also had to have a Hazmat unit out there to decontaminate all living beings in the house. There apparently was a big...

A Mish-Mash Of Things

July 14, 2011
By

Uhhh… There’s a lot going on in the city right now. I think most of it is good. But there’s also a lot going on in my life, like I got an actual real job which does take up a lot of time, and a bunch of other personal stuff that y’all aren’t close enough to me to hear about, lol. It’s all good stuff though. So that’s why there have been fewer posts here lately. Don’t worry, I will still do my level best to keep you up to date with what is going on, but it also...

Why I Even Care

July 12, 2011
By

I’ll be honest, there are days that the comments that are both posted here and the ones I leave unposted get me really, really down. It’s frustrating when people are posting blatant lies or when they are deliberately obtuse. It’s frustrating when people are rude to me or talk about me on other, forever to be unnamed websites. I want to be clear that I have no interest whatsoever in silencing anyone who disagrees with me. I have only banned one person, and that was on the facebook page, and that was because they were repeatedly rude to me...

Off-Topic Saturday: Music Edition

July 9, 2011
By

Ya know, guys, every once in awhile we should take a break from all this serious, heavy stuff and have a thread about happy randomness. So here’s my pick for the day- music! Is there really anything that can be more of a mood-changer? If I want to wallow in my depression, I listen to morose songs of the 90s. If I want to cheer up, I listen to happy, fun dance songs. If I want to stay angry, I listen to Eminem’s old stuff. If I want to feel less angry, I listen to his new stuff. So,...

Alderman Broeker Calls For Reason

July 6, 2011
By

In a bold move, Alderman Tom Broeker calls for the local business leaders who are pushing a petition that would effectively do away with our city as we know it, to stop: In no way can the surrender of the city’s charter be beneficial to the residents or businesses of La Vergne. I strongly urge Stan Glasgow, Mike Webb, and Angie Mayes among others to do what is right and immediately end this call for the demise of our great city. Hit this link for the full post. I had to stand up and cheer after I read this...

Board of Mayor & Aldermen Meeting 7/5/2011

July 6, 2011
By

The Board of Mayor and Aldermen Meeting was last night and I was there. Three people stood up to speak at the public hearing: Stan Glasgow, Mike Webb and Jerry Butler. They all said various stuff on the same theme: the petition to unincorporate. Just think about how great it is that we are now able to sign up to speak right before the meeting. Previously you had to sign up a week in advance and it had to be about something that was on the agenda, and how did you know what was on the agenda before the...
