LaVergne Changes Name

April 1, 2011
By

At the workshop last night, the board of Mayor and Alderman voted to change the name of the City of La Vergne. There has been much bad press for the city for several years, and in order to change the city’s image, the board voted 4-1 to change the city’s name to Awesome.

I’ve Got Nothing- Monday Edition

There’s not really anything interesting in the news unless you’re interested in UT Basketball, which I am not. Apparently the coach got fired today, that sucks. So in lieu of an interesting post, here are some interesting pictures: Alright, LaV! Discuss.

Personal Aside: I’m A Consumer

March 16, 2011

I’ve been blogging for, like, forever, it seems. About a year and a half ago, things changed and I went from being a content producer to being a content consumer. Now I’ve taken over this blog and I’m back to being a content producer. Still, sometimes I go back to my old ways. This morning I went and made the rounds of the places I like to read and then I came here, looking to see what someone else had written. Except, it’s me that needed to write. Ha. I’m trying to write here daily to make this website...

Fun With Search Engine Terms #1

March 15, 2011
By

One of my favorite things to do when I have a website is look at the search engine terms that people have used to get to our site. Some of them are obvious, like: thisislavergne Roy Waldron School lavergne sav-a-lot lavergne tn blog But some of them are clearly people looking for answers, most of which I don’t know the answer to: who is waldron road named for (I have no idea who specifically it’s named for, I just assumed it was the Waldron family in general. Anyone know?) lavergne yard sale rules (I’m sure there are some, but...

Restaurant Review: Tee Gee’s

Kathy and I had lunch this afternoon at Tee Gee’s Restaurant. Tee Gee’s is located at 5238 Murfreesboro Road here in La Vergne, and is open M-F from 6 am to 6:45 PM and Saturdays from 6 AM until 2 PM. They’re closed Sundays. Tee Gee’s fare is basically home cooking. It is comfort food at its best. Kathy and I had the cheeseburger and home fries (tasty!) and my daughter had the catfish dinner. I know you want to see some pictures. Mmm tasty. Tee Gee’s is simple food, cooked well. The place is not fancy- do not...

My iPhone using pals were all pretty irate this morning since their iPhones woke them up before dawn cracked this morning. For once, I’m pleased that I’m too poor to afford an iPhone. I perused the news this morning but didn’t see anything very interesting. Someone shot up a Waffle House. I’d like to make jokes about that, but the time change has got me kinda whickety-whack. That, even though I don’t own an iPhone. Here’s something my brother sent me awhile back: I’m not really sure how a person can be named Deborah Slappey Pitts and still feel...

Open Thread: Nice Weekend Edition

March 12, 2011
By

I’m going to hang out with my family this weekend. As a matter of fact, I scheduled this post for sometime on Saturday- it is actually late Friday night and I’m enjoying the silence before this weekend gets nuts- I’ve got a houseful. So, what do you want to talk about, LaV? I am so sad for the people in Japan. I hope they’re able to get things under control soon. I pray for the families of those who have died. I saw an awesome thing on Wii News earlier today. The headline was, no kidding, “Woman goes to...

Roy Waldron School’s Alice In Wonderland

March 11, 2011
By
This kid even looks like Alice.

Last night, I went to see Roy Waldron School’s production of Alice in Wonderland. I’ve been to the drama productions every year for the last several years, and I have to say that this year they have really outdone themselves. They have had fundraisers that have allowed them to purchase more sound equipment, so the play was much easier to hear now than in previous years. The level of talent was incredible this year. The sets and costumes were really good this year as well. They put the play on at La Vergne Middle School since Roy Waldron doesn’t...
