Rarely did you see Steve Kimbrough without a friendly smile on his face. Extraordinarily gifted, Steve was a sound engineer with the Little River Band and had been working with city officials to book a performance for the LaVergne community. He was always willing to lend a hand to the Parks & Recreation department.
One of his closest friends posted, “Talked to him last week while he was in hospital, he barely could breathe or talk, he was worried to death about making a promise to do the sound for Old Timers Festival next month and assured me he had it taken care of, I was telling him we take care of it and not to worry just get better. He went on and on how he had a friend in case he couldn’t make it, he was hard headed and never made a promise he couldn’t keep. That was the last time I got to speak him. He was a man’s man, straight shooter and the respect I had for him was more than I can say… He would catch little old ladies gone and go mow their yard because they try to pay him and didn’t wanna listen to it lol He never met a stranger…”
Steve died on August 23, 2021 at the age of 54.
One person said, “He was truly one of a kind. He had the biggest heart and was a gentle soul. Rest In peace my dear friend. I will miss you!!”
Another, “He did many sound gigs for my band and many other friends over the years from way back in 1994. Great guy and will be missed by many.”
Another, “Some great memories from my teenage years playing music with Steve in his garage. He was an awesome guy and a good friend.”
