Your eyes might be heavy today having lost an hour of sleep thanks to moving the clocks forward an hour this weekend, but with all the great events coming up it’s well worth the extra hour of daylight! Here’s a quick overview of what’s coming up. Mark your calendars!
FINAL WEEK to sign up for Spring Baseball and Softball. The league has gone through some upheaval the last two years, but it looks like under the very capable hands of the city’s new athletic coordinator, this season will be a really good one. Sign-ups are fairly inexpensive – $75 per child and that includes a full uniform, umpires, and other basic expenses. Parents will be asked to help out at the concession stand to help pay for added expenses (trophies, field maintenance, and more). If you want to sign up, contact Parks & Rec at 615-793-3224 or sign-up online here: La Vergne Youth Baseball and Softball League.
March 14, 11:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m. The annual American Girl Tea Party is next weekend at the Library. We understand there are still openings, so contact the Library at 615-793-7303 to sign your daughter up this coming week (the library is closed on Sundays).
March 14, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Every few years, Celebrate La Vergne History comes around. There will be photos of historic La Vergne, along with artifacts on display. At 2:30 p.m., there will be a Civil War soldier shooting a musket. The event is at the Civic Auditorium on Old Nashville Highway and is open and free to the public.
March 28, 9:00 a.m. Easter Egg Hunt. The games begin at 9:00 a.m. and the Egg Hunt is on at 10:00 a.m. DO NOT BE LATE because if you’re late you WILL miss it! The event is at Veterans Memorial Park. The games are usually held around Pavilion A next to the playground and the hunt will be held in the football field with about 300 kids grabbing 6,000 eggs in 30 seconds flat.
Easter Sunday is April 5. If your church is open to visitors on this holy day, please share the time(s) of Easter services here. We’ll try to write another article prior to Easter about our churches and when to go.
Have a great, blessed week La Vergne!"Spring Forward to Great Activities",
