Rutherford County School Board Member Aaron Holladay contacted one of our readers earlier today who passed the information to us about an upcoming meeting. On Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 5:30pm, there will be a special called meeting of the Board of Education to discuss the school building program.
It looks like one of the Smyrna elementary schools just got a big makeover and we’re happy for them, but it’s also important for citizens of LaVergne to realize that at least one of our schools really needs some major help, as well. Roy Waldron Elementary School is being considered for some remodeling work, as well as a building extension. There are currently plenty of outdoor classrooms (trailer classes) that can be dangerous for students and teachers during severe weather.
It wouldn’t hurt for the Board of Education to also take a look at LaVergne Primary School as it’s decades old and could use some pick-me-up, too.
If you want to have a voice about the needs of the schools in our city, contact Aaron Holladay at (615) 410-5701 or email him holladaya (at) rcschools (dot) net.
