Holy cow! It is time again for our fabulously fun Old Timer’s Festival! I am so excited, are you?  This is going to be the BEST YEAR EVER for the festival. The weather is looking fabulous and there are lots of exciting things to see, do, eat, ride, buy and enjoy!!
The festival kicks off on Friday night when the carnival opens. I am really excited for the Songwriters Unplugged/Open Mic night at the entertainment stage. This year (weather permitting) there will be tethered hot air balloon rides that start Friday night, too. WOW!!
Saturday brings us the La Vergne Rescue Squad breakfast at the headquarters on Gambill Lane from 5 am – 10 am. Then the BEST PARADE EVER begins at 10:00 from City Hall to the park. Please note that the traffic on Murfreesboro Road will all be moved to the eastbound lanes beginning at 9:15. This year, due to one of the parade entries, the road will be closed from the La Vergne city limit at Nashville all the way to the park, but the parade is from City Hall to the park only. Please view the city page here for more info on closures and alternate routes.   Our Grand Marshall this year is the Rolling Thunder motorcycle group.
Saturday and Sunday brings us more entertainment, rides, food and crafts. Please see the current schedule of events and entertainment on the city webpage here.  There will be delicious food vendors and creative crafters selling their wares. There is fun for everyone!!!
Also, don’t forget about the adorable Baby Show on Sunday at 2:00 for La Vergne children from birth to 4 years old. This was a ton of fun and cuteness last year and I am sure it will be just as much fun and cute this year too. Rules and information is available on the city page here.
While I am at it, I want to thank the army of city employees and volunteers who work tirelessly to provide us with awesome community events like this. I am not sure how many of you came out to the Back to School bash, but it was a ton of fun and the fireworks were AMAZING!!! So, while you are at the festival, give an employee or volunteer a high-five, pat on the back or a thank you for their hard work! They do this because they love this beautiful city as much as we do!!
Tell me, dear readers, what are you looking forward to at Old Timer’s Festival this year?
