Hi gang! How’s your summer been? I haven’t written much because mine has been a bit insane. But, hopefully with school starting next week we can all get back into the groove.
I wanted to tell you about a few goings on here in La Vergne. First up, this Saturday, the 3rd, Box 100 is having a fundraiser yard sale from 8a-3p. Grace Church at the corner of Stones River and Old Nashville has generously allowed them to use the parking lot for the sale. Big THANK YOU to them! Box 100 members have been gathering stuff from far and wide to provide plenty of treasures for this sale. Come on by to shop, make a donation, visit and learn more about what they do and how you can help!
Also, the National Night Out is Tuesday, August 6th at Veterans Memorial Park. Activities run from 5:00-8:00 pm with activities and information for all ages. Come on over for the seed spitting contest, a first responders tug of war, a softball game and more. A special exhibit about drunk driving is planned (including a chance to wear the “drunk goggles†that help you feel what it is like to be impaired.) I am excited to see McGruff the Crime Dog; the Crash Test Dummies, Vince and Larry; and Litter Bug. There will be free snow cones and other food available and jump houses for the kiddos!!
School starts back on August 8th. Kids will go for a two hour day to meet their teachers on that day and then enjoy Friday off. School starts back full time on the 12th. Please be mindful of children in the street walking to and from their buses. Remember, it is against the law to pass a bus with its STOP signage engaged. Don’t risk it folks. It only lasts for a minute and then you can be on your way. Watch your speed in school zones when the lights are flashing or the crossing guards are present. Let’s keep our kids safe!
Tennessee Tax Free weekend is this weekend. Will you be out in the crowds scooping up bargains, or like me, avoiding the masses at all costs? Tell me La Vergne, I wanna know!!
