While the DNJ was right on target in today’s year-end review article called “2012 Winners & Losers” about the city benefiting from Bruce Richardson as interim city administrator and a mayor working full time, we have a very differing opinion about calling the Board of Mayor and Aldermen “Losers” in this instance, LOSERS: The La Vergne Board of Mayor & Aldermen retreated from efforts to ban residents from parking on their front yards. A week after anthropologists managed to scare the beejeezies out of everyone thinking the world was ending, here we all are. But don’t despair all you stock-pilers who have your treasures hidden in secret rooms and bunkers… the “Prophet Gabriel” supposedly told the Sword of God Brotherhood that the “dying time” will come in 2017. A host of other “prophets” believe it will be between 2021 and 2029, so there’s plenty more time to hunker down and plan for the worst. OR. Or we can just live. Oh LaVergne. You’ve had some spectacular moments this year, but you’ve had some pretty dismal ones as well.  Here is our view of the best of LaVergne and the worst of LaVergne in 2012. He struggles every day with mental health issues, and I have been a witness to the depression and hopelessness he battles. It’s obvious that most online conversations have shifted from blogs and over to social networking sites (read: Facebook). 24 Days Til Christmas, Out and About

Happy December 1st LaVergne!  We are now 20 days until the end of the world. Failing that, we are 24 days away from Christmas! 31 days from the New Year.  And what have we done this year? There’s some really good street news.  Chaney Road has been repaved and the nasty intersection at Chaney and Old Nashville Hwy has been repaired. That’s a pretty darn good Christmas present all in itself, but we also got part of Fergus paved, Sanford paved, and a few formerly battered side subdivision streets are now done.
