The city has hosted musicians several times throughout the decades, ranging from entertainment at Old Timers festivities to other special events. Music will again play at Veterans Memorial Park next weekend when the Parks & Rec department hosts “Music in the Park” on Saturday, June 9th at 7:00 p.m.
The event is free, so all you need to bring is a lawn chair or blanket. The city facebook event says food vendors will be there, so bring some cash if you want to eat… or pack your own picnic! I googled “picnic ideas” and most of the stuff that comes up is fancy-pants suggestions like corn and chickpea salad, rhubarb slaw, or spicy orange and sesame chicken sandwiches… who eats that stuff?? Here are my suggestions for your own picnic:
1. Buy from vendor, or
2. PBJ, bag of “baked” chips (let’s do healthy here), fruit bowl from store.
3. Fried chicken (great cold), sliced cheese, boiled eggs (peeled in advance).
4. Don’t forget dessert! Watermelon, homemade rice krispie bars or other cookies, stuff that won’t melt.
Do yo have some great picnic suggestions? Unfortunately (or fortunately), alcohol is strictly forbidden. It will be FUN without the drinks, so come on out!
Almost forgot!
FEATURING the music of: Chainbreaker, Magic Bubba, Velvet Tread, and the Attitude Band.
We hope to see you there!!
