There are a couple of important dates coming up that you should take note of, so it’s a pleasure to remind you!
Thursday, November 17th, 6:00 p.m.
Rutherford County Commissioners Meeting
Courtroom, Rutherford County Courthouse
At this meeting, residents of Rutherford County are signing up to ask the Commissioners to reconsider the zoning districts for the School Board and Road Board. This is LaVergne has talked about why it’s important here. My sources tell me that all members of LaVergne’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen will be in attendance. If you can, please try to come to this meeting to show the county commissioners that the entire county should receive equitable representation. It should not be divided because “that’s the way it’s always been done.”
Monday, November 28th
DEADLINE for Parade of Lights Entry Form
People of the community have been asking the city for a Christmas parade for years and the Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee, with the approval of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen, have made it a reality. Please get the word out for churches, organizations, businesses, and individuals to enter! The nighttime parade will require cars, floats, trucks to be lighted. You can get a cigarette lighter power inverter for about $20 online (or less if you’re a good shopper) to plug in your lights. Pick up some garland, make posters, decorate a tree in the back of a pick-up truck! The theme is Winter Wonderland.
Applications are online at www.lavergnetn.gov (click on the Christmas card looking 2011 Parade of Lights logo in the top left-hand corner of the page). They can be faxed, dropped off, or mailed – but get your entry in soon!
My sources tell me that Santa will be riding in a firetruck bucket and will hang with the kids at City Hall after the parade ends!
Here’s what an inverters looks like.
