Chili Cook Off Tonight

Think your chili is the best around? Tonight you’ll have your chance to prove it as again the city rallies around Ricky Quinn, a dedicated city employee who is also a volunteer firefighter.  Ricky is fighting neck and head cancer and his treatments have made him too weak to continue supporting his family.  YOU CAN EASILY HELP simply by having dinner with family, friends, and neighbors.

Waldron Elementary School
Saturday, November 12
5:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Admission $5
(tickets available at the door)

There will be jars for you to place dollar bills for your favorite chili.  And a bake sale!  And a silent auction that includes gift cards from Chili’s, WillStans, and more.  All proceeds will go toward supporting the Quinn family.

My sources tell me that auction baskets include:

  • Hot Chocolate Deliciousness
  • Movie Time
  • Cleaning Supplies (sponsored by our very own This is LaVergne!)
  • Beauty Control

Assistant Fire Chief Robert Kimbrough said, “The chili will be judged by votes from the public and the winner gets bragging rights for best chili in north Rutherford County, along with a first, second, and third place trophy.”

So eat, bid on great items, and maybe win a trophy!

SPECIAL THANKS to Dr. Polly Pewitt, Waldron Elementary School, and Rutherford County Schools for allowing the use of the school cafeteria.

Here’s a photo from the softball tournament. Mr. Quinn is wearing the red shirt in the middle of the photo!
