A Behind The Scenes Look

Our Alderman Tom Broeker has joined the ranks of us who have our own blog, right here at Ask the Alderman. I am super excited about being able to read his words and see what he’s thinking about what is going on in this city. It’s also going to be great to have another way of contacting him for any questions we might have.

Which brings me to this- his post yesterday about the Picnic in the Park. Here’s his very good explanation of why they are doing this at a time like this:

Currently, I do not feel you can put a price tag on bringing this city back together. As the commercial says: Priceless. This Patriotic Picnic in the Park may only be a very small first step but it is a step forward nonetheless. I assure you with your partnership, patience, and trust there will be many more.

But wait! There’s more! He also explains how the city is not spending any new money on this celebration, but you’ll have to go over there to read it. I am so incredibly pleased that we have an alderman who is so approachable and willing to explain anything we might want to know. Thank you so much, Mr. Broeker.

Thank you for posting this link to my new website. I hope it will be useful to the citizens of La Vergne and open another line of communication. Please bring your concerns, comments and questions. I will also post as often as possible about the events or happenings of the city.

Only two disclaimers, first, there may be some legalities in which I may have to defer answering some questions until a later time. Also as I have to comply with the Sunshine Law other elected officials may not be able to respond on this site. I ask for your understanding on both.

As I know so many of us share a passion for our great city, let’s open a honest dialogue to move this city forward. This blog isn’t just for the “likeminded,” I want to hear from all of you even when we disagree.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

I have 2 questions. First,When most of the citizens of La Vergne are working class, what is the money that our property taxes being doubled going to,and second, what is La Vergne doing to attract new businesses to our area? The first one is huge,as it affects us all in such an extreme way,and is part of the reason why we bought a home in La Vergne. Thank you for your time.

Great idea! I for one love the open communication this administration is striving for. I appreciate the mayor and aldermen being willing to take the time to answer questions and explain things. Can you imagine what this county/state/country would be like if all elected officials followed that example?
