Go To A Tea Party That’s Not About Politics At The LaV Library

Some cool library-related info from the city:

American Girl Tea Party featuring Felicity
Saturday, April 9th
First: 11:00 a.m. Second: 2:00 p.m.
FREE and children do not have to bring an American Girl doll to attend. They can bring a favorite doll (or not at all). You must register to attend by calling 793-7303, extension 4202. There are several spaces still open for both times. Children in attendance will be registered to win an AG doll. A photographer will be on hand to take photos of children in their tea party clothes.

Sounds like a lot of fun, and you could win an American Girl doll? Those are SO nice, I really love them. Too bad my daughter thinks dolls are creepy, lol.

And here’s one more library-related tidbit:

Also, there is a vacancy on the Library Board. You can apply for the appointment by downloading, printing and completing the form (return to Bruce Richardson). http://www.lavergnetn.gov/pdf/forms/bcapp.pdf

Vacancy will be filled at next Board meeting in May but now is the time to let the city know you’re interested!

Heck, I’m thinking about maybe applying for this. We really do have a pretty sweet library considering what a small town this is. What do you guys think about the library? What do you like best, and what would you change if you had the power to do so?

I am about. to. pop. I have been researching my family genealogy for the last several months (that stuff is HIGHLY addictive) and have been stymied by ancestry.com. Every time I need to go just a little bit further or want to actually view a record… CHA CHING! It costs $$.

So I asked at our city directors meeting on Monday if the library has a subscription to ancestry.com. They do not. HOWEVER, they *do* have Heritage Quest… FREE if you have your library card. And not just free!!! You can also access it online from your home computer! Go to the library website here http://www.lavergnetn.gov/library/ and then find Electronic Resources. You’ll need to key in your library card number. It’s amazing, I’m telling ya!

Kudos to our library for offering this service.
