BREAKING: Where Roads Are Blocked 4/4/2011

I will update as all updates come in, but here’s what I’ve got. First, if you’ve got kids heading home from school, be patient, they are waiting for the all clear from the school board and buses will be late. **Update**- I believe it has now been lifted. **Update on update** Yep, my horde just walked in the door.

Be careful, La Vergne! If a road you usually take to get home is listed here, consider taking another route! As I type I hear all kinds of sirens.

Roads that are apparently closed:

Blair Road at Walnut Ridge– blocked due to fallen tree limbs

La Vergne Lane– power line down in the road**Update, 4:00 PM** LaVergne Lane has been cleared.Actually, it’s still closed.

Hollandale between Drake & Martin Lane… tree on power line.

Jones Mill Road -power lines down.

Highland Street– There is a pole partially in the road with wires in the road as well. (thanks, Linda!)

Blair Road from Van Winkle down to Smyrna will be closed for the rest of the evening due to power lines which are down.

Be Cautious Of/Traffic Nightmares:

Sam Ridley Parkway at i-24 Eastbound has at least one overturned tractor trailer. **According to google maps, I24 will not be cleared until 7 PM.** (Thanks, Anna!)

There are all kinds of things in the roads- trash cans and other debris. (Thanks, Adrianne!) Drive carefully!

Major damage to homes in Walnut Ridge.

A metal roof came off a house in the area of Fergus Road and the Heritage Valley subdivision. (Thanks, Rhonda and Bryan!)

According to Google Maps, the entire area over by Sam Ridley Parkway, Old Nashville Highway and Rock Springs Road is a traffic nightmare. Avoid if at all possible.

Power outages are widespread according to NES and MTEMC.

This is from reader Adrianne, this was shot in LaVergne Lane, power lines down.

I’m pretty sure I heard the cause of the line down on LaVergne Ln.
Never heard a rush like that before.

Yeah, I’m not far from you and I took cover. I never take cover, but this sounded really concerning.

Kathy’s been listening in on the police scanner and hasn’t heard anything about that area, so I’m thinking everything’s generally okay over there!

Hee hee, I just stuck one in my purse the other day. Difficulty: I still don’t own a cord for that particular camera, haha

Hi guys. I got all of this down to send to the National Weather Service. They need damage reports like this, even if it’s after the fact, so if you have any more please post them here or at my blog along with pictures of downed trees and other damage if you got them. Hope all is well.

The National Weather Service did confirm it was an EF1 tornado in the Walnut Ridge area. So glad there were no injuries!
