At least 150 families will be helped this holiday season through a Toy Drive held by the LaVergne Police Department and championed by Alderman Dennis Waldron. In addition to new toys, the police department will also accept monetary donations.
Cash donations should be turned in by December 10th to allow adequate time to shop, and unwrapped toys can be turned in no later than December 16th. Both money and toys can be dropped off at the LPD behind City Hall (5093 Murfreesboro Road). The coordinator of the toy drive is Lt. Cindy Murphy who is working with the local schools, police officers, and the general public to fairly identify families in need.
One resident asked that we remember how important it is for those of us with just a little extra to give for those who are suffering financially. Any amount will help and there are children of all ages in LaVergne who will be helped.
If you have questions, contact Alderman Waldron at 708-2909 or Lt. Murphy at 394-8402.
