Tornadic Tuesday

Just received a message from Rutherford County Schools… they will not dismiss early in the event of a tornado warning.  If there is an active tornado warning at dismissal time, children will not be released – buses or otherwise.  If parents come to the schools to pick up their children, they will only be released if there is no active tornado warning AND it will be an excused absence.

Other news… here’s a link to the alderman survey from the DNJ.  I admit that although I’ve read the answers, I have not concentrated on them, so you’re on your own to educate yourselves on what the candidates said.   I do plan to pick up more campaign finance disclosure forms tomorrow and will get them scanned and posted as soon as I can.

Stay safe, LaVergne!

It was very busy around Box 100 today! We sent a team with LaVergne PD to clear a 6 foot in diameter tree that was knocked down by high winds this morning. In addition we provided weather information to all city personnel in regards to what was happening and what the National Weather Service had to say. All and all a good day considering!

Here's a lovely snafu . . . LHS said the kids that drive could leave early if their parents faxed in a note. No phone calls or e-mails – it had to be a fax. Of course, the fax machine quickly became overloaded and most of the kids didn't get to leave. Sure glad the weather cleared up and the kids were able to get out at their regular time. Sounds like they need a Plan B in case this happens again!

Hey, I've got a big 'ol bag of candy coming your way tomorrow. I'm assuming it's ok to drop off at your office.

After I get some work done this early morning at home, I hope to be at the polls most of the day Ms. Sarah! You might try me there first (if it's after 10:30'ish). 🙂

I'm just glad we didn't have any tornadoes. It felt like everything was going to blow away just from the straight line winds!
