LaVergne Loses Head of Planning Commission

From Alderwoman Mosley,

This is a very sad day for all of La Vergne. The city has lost a wonderful friend and the Chairman of our Planning Commission. Mr. John Rutledge passed away yesterday. Mr. John donated many years to serving La Vergne and cared deeply for his city. Mrs. Rutledge is our director of Tax Collection in the city and recently went through back surgery. Please pass this on to our friends on This is La Vergne and please remember this wonderful family in your prayers.

I am so blessed to have know John Rutledge. He was a generous, kind man. He was loved by so many people and will be deeply missed. If we could talk to him now he would say he was "wandering around Heaven". Please pray for the family as they deal with this loss.

John was a good, honest man, a hard worker, an avid fisherman and a good friend to many. He served La Vergne for many years and will be missed. My prayers go out to Evie, John Mack and Lori…may God Bless and comfort them all. Rest in peace, John.

John Rutledge will be sorely miss bu many and in the hearts of even more forever. He always had a smile and a kind word. He was the sunshine in a lot of lives. My prayers are with Ms. Evie, his children and grand children. He will be missed, but never forgotten by all that were ever graced by meeting him during the time the Lord shared such a great angle as John with this world. He is watching over us all know from that great fishing hole in the sky. I will miss you John from "Hey Girl"

Through the tears the first line was a little messed up. It should read "John Rutledge will be sorely missed by many…….."

John was a good man & will be missed. He served the city well & overcame the pressure by some in order to do what was right for the citizens. To Evie, John Mack, & Lori you have my prayers for strength & guidance during this difficult time.
