Seeking No-Kill Shelters

A friend of mine has a dog or 12 and needs to thin the herd, so to speak.  However because the Rutherford County Animal Control shelter does euthanize the four-legged creatures that have reached their time limit, she is hoping to find a no-kill shelter nearby.

Does anyone know of any local shelters like this?

And for your added enjoyment today (and to roll the fireworks display up a little because I hear it’s distracting!!), here’s a photo of my own canine Cocoa getting brushed.  Is that not the face of pure delight?

My friends own a transport service out of Cookeville that takes rescues dogs and takes them to new homes in the NE. Contact them. They can direct you to shelters and other opportunities. They also have a new show on Animal Planet.

What breed of dog is it? Sometimes it's easier to find a specific breed rescue.

Rock N Acres is one all breed rescue I know of in Lavergne.

I have *no* idea what kind of dogs she has… just that they're big and they bark a lot.

Rock N Acrea has been cited MULTIPLE times for animal cruelty. sure, give the dogs to them.

Why not have her be a RESPONSIBLE pet owner and spay and neuter them so she doesn't have to "thin her herd" and then she wouldn't be in this predicament now would she?

    Dear thetruth,

I've heard that about Rock N Acres before. I'd be interested to see if you have any incident reports or anything. I hate bad rescues. They give the good one a bad name.

Also, it'd be cool if you actually didn't assume things about people. I'm pretty sure I know who Kathy was talking about when she posted this and if I recall correctly, that person had all her animals spayed/neutered; she had rescued more animals than she could afford. Don't be an assuming jerk, ok?

    Thanky,

    Ivy
