Charity Begins at Home

While everyone is so kindly feeling charitable – neighbors helping neighbors and giving back to your community – I wanted to get the word out about a major event coming up on  Saturday, May 29th.  Designed to help families in LaVergne affected by the flood, it is sponsored by local businesses.  This is LaVergne is HONORED to help with this big idea, big solution.

From 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., La Vergne Party in the Park “to Benefit Local Flood Victims” is scheduled at Veterans Memorial Park on Murfreesboro Road.

The host committee is seeking musicians to perform, as well as others who can demonstrate their talents whether it’s karate, dance, choirs, or other performers.  In addition, business sponsors are needed to either donate funds or host a “booth” (not unlike the business tent at Oldtimers’ Day).  Food vendors are also wanted throughout the day, as well as other volunteers and door prizes.

Money from the public and businesses may be donated at Regions Bank in LaVergne, where cashier checks will later be given to flood victims, as identified by the city’s emergency management personnel and/or Red Cross and FEMA.   If you want to help, here’s where you can get started (email funky to protect against spammers but you know how to make an @ sign and a dot is a . right?):
