Help Waldron Elementary Get New Playground

Today and tomorrow are the last days to vote at the Pepsi Refresh Project so that LaVergne’s own Waldron Elementary School can get a new playground.  Every month the ginormous corporation is funding special projects throughout the U.S. and our school applied to get $25,000 in grant money to go toward new playground equipment.

In the application, the need for second grade students was stressed,

There is only one playground creating a dangerous situation in which too many students are in an area at one time and seven year olds are playing in an area with eleven year olds.

If you want to vote, go to the Pepsi Refresh Project.  You will be required to register OR if you have a Facebook account, you can connect to it and vote that way from the same link.

EVERYONE IN LaVERGNE … please respond!  Thank you!

Hey folks — just checked the web site and the school is up to fourth place nationwide. On behalf of the city, I'd like to thank everyone who helped make this possible. Of course, we still have 11 1/4 hours to go, but it's looking good.

The school is not a city school, but one of my main goals with my job is to strengthen the relationships between the city and the schools. Working together we can only bring good things to light.

Once again, thanks to everyone who has helped with this. I know the kids will be thrilled to have a new, larger playground once it is built.

I have voted the last two days it just takes a minute to do. I hope everyone else will take the time. What spot do we have to be in Angie? In order for them to get the playground.

They just have to be in the top 10 — I believe it's $25K for each of the top 10 projects. So if we can just keep them there for the next 8 3/4 hours, we'll be in great shape.

Well, it appears that RWS finished number eight and will receive the $25,000. So say congrautlations to Dr. Pewitt and her staff if you get the chance.

Thanks again folks for all of your support. Working together, we can make positive things happen!
