One Less Thing To Do

How much time do you spend visiting different states, or amusement parks? Ever travel to a Six Flags theme park? More specific, have you been to Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom?

Well if you haven’t heard, the Six Flags theme park based in Louisville, KY is shutting the doors.  According to an email and press release yesterday, the park will be relocating its full time employees and distributing the rides to the other parks.

I guess we’ll be traveling to Atlanta more.

I've never been, but don't understand why so many peopel around here went up there anyway.

According to Google maps, it is 3 hrs 4 mns to Kentucky Kingdom, compared to an extra 40 minutes to get to Six Flags over Georgia. And while I've never been to Louisville, I've got to believe there is more to do in Atlanta than Kentucky. And what about Dollywood?

I should preface this by saying I grew up in Atlanta and go there about once a month, and only once have I graced the state of Kentucky with my presence (I was in Bowling Green for about an hour 2 weeks ago), so I might be a bit biased 🙂

Right now, Six Flags over Georgia has Season passes for $49.00. A season pass for Dollywood is $79.00. Dollywood is a bit pricey for me, so I never think about it.

This is such sad info!!!!! Ronnie and I took several trips to Kentucky Kingdom. One special time comes to mind. We had a van full of girls we stayed at a wonderful new hotel right behind the park. If memory serves me we paid $89.00 for this huge suite type room. It had two different rooms with the bath in the middle. This was great with all these girls. Spent all day at the park and water park. The whole adventure cost roughly 275.00 The next year we went to Disneyland in FL.(WHOLE LOT MORE THAN 275.00) We stayed at the park!! I will never forget my precious little Nae looking so seriously at her dad after a long day in the Magic Kingdom and stated" I had more fun at Kentucky Kingdom!!!! I will not repeat what he said!!!! The only thing we could figure out was at her age at that time 4th grade (and her size) the Kentucky Kingdom was less intimidating. She said it was because at Disneyland the older kids picked everything to do and at Kentucky Kingdom she got to do what she wanted . Gota love kids!!!!

I hate to see that, but the Six Flags in Atlanta is much better, anyway.
